Bukti Ilmiah: Apakah Arkeologi Mendukung Atau Menolak Biografi Yesus? (1)

Ada sesuatu yang aneh saat makan siang bersama Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald. Dia duduk sambil mengunyah roti berisi ikan tuna dan keripik kentang dengan santai dalam sebuah ruangan pertemuan di pengadilan Carolina Utara. Dia membuat komentar-komentar riang dan tampaknya dia menikmati dirinya sendiri. Dalam ruangan lain di dekat ruangan ini, 12 juri sedang beristirahat setelah mendengarkan bukti menakutkan bahwa MacDonald telah membunuh istri dan kedua anak perempuannya secara brutal.

Setelah makan siang, saya tidak dapat menahan diri untuk bertanya persoalan-persoalan yang sudah cukup jelas, "Bagaimana bisa Anda bersikap seolah-olah tidak ada yang terjadi?" ujarku, dengan nada keheranan dan geram. "Apakah Anda tidak khawatir sedikitpun juri-juri itu akan menyatakan bahwa Anda bersalah?"

MacDonald dengan santai mengayunkan roti yang baru dimakan separuhnya ke arah ruangan juri. "Mereka?" Dia tergelak, "Mereka tidak bisa menyalahkanku!"

Sesaat setelah menyadari betapa sinisnya kata-kata tersebut, dia dengan cepat menambahkan, "Saya tidak bersalah."

Saat itu adalah terakhir kalinya saya mendengarnya tertawa. Dalam hitungan hari, mantan anggota Komando Pasukan Khusus AS dan fisikawan ruang gawat darurat itu, dinyatakan bersalah atas pembunuhan istrinya, Colette, dandua putrinya, Kimberly, 5 tahun, dan Kristin, 2 tahun.

Dia dijatuhi hukuman penjara seumur hidup dan diseret dengan borgol.

MacDonald terlalu angkuh menganggap alibinya dapat menolongnya lolos dari tuduhan pembunuhan itu. Dia mengatakan kepada para penyelidik bahwa saat itu dia sedang tertidur di sofa, kemudian orang-orang jalanan yang terpengaruh obat terlarang membangunkannya tengah malam. Menurut pengakuannya, dia melawan mereka, ditusuk, dan dipukul sampai tak sadarkan diri dalam proses tersebut. Ketika dia terbangun, dia melihat keluarganya telah terbunuh.

Sejak awal para detektif sudah meragukan pernyataannya. Kondisi ruang tamu hanya menunjukkan sedikit tanda-tanda perkelahian sengit, dan luka-luka MacDonald hanyalah luka yang dibuat-buat. Akan tetapi, sikap skeptis saja tidak bisa menyatakan bahwa dia bersalah; hal tersebut membutuhkan bukti-bukti kuat. Dalam kasus MacDonald, Para detektif bergantung pada bukti ilmiah untuk membuka jaringan kebohongannya dan menghukumnya atas pembunuhan tersebut.

Ada berbagai macam bukti ilmiah yang sering digunakan dalam pengadilan, mulai dari menggolongkan tipe DNA sampai antropologi forensik hingga toksikologi. Dalam kasus MacDonald buktinya adalah serologi (bukti darah) dan bukti jejak yang mengirimnya langsung ke penjara.

Menurut para jaksa penuntut dan berdasarkan dugaan kuat atas keabsahan kejadian luar biasa yang mengejutkan itu, setiap anggota dalam keluarga MacDonald memiliki tipe darah yang berbeda-beda. Dengan menyelidiki bercak-bercak darah yang ditemukan, para penyelidik berhasil merekonstruksi rangkaian peristiwa yang terjadi pada malam yang mengerikan itu -- dan penemuan mereka langsung bertolak belakang dari gambaran versi MacDonald.

Penelitian ilmiah tentang benang yang sangat kecil pada baju tidur birunya, yang ditemukan di berbagai tempat, juga menentang alibinya. Kemudian, analisis mikroskop menunjukkan bahwa lubang-lubang di baju tidurnya tidak mungkin disebabkan oleh penghancur es yang dihancurkan oleh orang-orang yang menyerang rumahnya, seperti yang dikatakan MacDonald. Singkat kata, para staf forensik FBI yang mengenakan jas laboratorium berwarna putih benar-benar berada di balik pengakuan MacDonald.

Ratusan temuan arkeologi dari abad pertama telah diselidiki, dan saya penasaran: apakah mereka mempertentangkan atau sebaliknya menguatkan cerita-cerita para saksi mata tentang Yesus? Oleh karena itu, saya berkelana untuk bertemu dengan orang terkemuka yang telah menggali sendiri reruntuhan Timur Tengah, yang memunyai wawasan luas tentang penemuan-penemuan kuno, dan yang memiliki batasan-batasan ilmiah yang memadai yang diakui -- batasan-batasan arkeologi -- seraya menjelaskan bagaimana penemuan tersebut mengungkapkan kehidupan dalam abad pertama.

Wawancara: John McRay, Ph.D

Ketika para pelajar dan siswa mempelajari arkeologi, banyak yang kembali mengacu pada buku panduan John McRay yang akurat dan terpercaya pada halaman 432 tentang Arkeologi dan Perjanjian Baru.

McRay menuntut ilmu di Hebrew University, Ecole Biblique et Archeologique Francaise di Yerusalem, Vanderbilt University Divinity School, dan The University of Chicago, universitas yang memberinya gelar doktor pada tahun 1967. McRay adalah seorang Guru Besar Perjanjian Baru dan Arkeologi di Wheaton College selama lebih dari 15 tahun.

Untuk menguji apakah dia berlebihan tentang pengaruh arkeologi, saya memutuskan untuk membuka wawancara saya dengan menanyakannya apa yang dapat dia jelaskan tentang konsistensi dari serangkaian pengukuran atau serangkaian alat ukur Perjanjian Baru.

"Arkeologi telah memberikan beberapa kontribusi penting," ujarnya mengawali dengan kecepatan dialek yang pernah dipakainya sebagai anak dari Oklahoma bagian tenggara, "Namun arkeologi tidak bisa membuktikan apakah Perjanjian Baru merupakan Firman Allah. Jika kita menggali tentang Israel dan menemukan letak-letak kuno yang konsisten dengan petunjuk Alkitab, maka hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sejarah dan geografi dalam Alkitab tepat. Namun demikian, hal ini tidak menyatakan bahwa apa yang dikatakan Yesus Kristus benar. Kebenaran rohani tidak dapat dibuktikan atau dilemahkan dengan penemuan-penemuan arkeologis."

Sebagai suatu analogi, dia menceritakan kisah tentang Heinrich Schliemann, yang berusaha meneliti Troy untuk membuktikan ketepatan historis Illiad karya Homer. "Dia menemukan Troy," ujar McRay dengan senyuman lembut, "tetapi itu tidak membuktikan bahwa Iliad benar. Cerita tersebut hanya akurat pada referensi-referensi geografis tertentu."

Saat kita menentukan batasan-batasan apa yang tidak dapat diungkapkan oleh arkeologi, saya penasaran untuk meneliti apa yang dikatakan arkeologi tentang Perjanjian Baru. Saya memutuskan untuk terjun ke topik ini dengan membuat pengamatan yang memperbanyak pengalaman saya sebagai jurnalis investigasi resmi.

Menggali Kebenaran

Saat mencoba memutuskan apakah seorang saksi berkata yang sesungguhnya, para jurnalis dan pengacara akan menguji seluruh elemen kesaksiannya yang dapat diuji. Jika investigasi ini mengungkapkan bahwa orang itu salah menyebutkan detail-detailnya, maka kebenaran kisahnya akan sangat diragukan. Akan tetapi, jika detail-detailnya cocok, ini merupakan indikasi -- bukan sebagai bukti kesimpulan, tetapi sebagai bukti bahwa mungkin saksi ini dapat dipercaya atas pernyataan keseluruhannya.

Contohnya, jika seseorang bercerita tentang perjalanannya dari St. Louis ke Chicago, dan menyebutkan bahwa dia berhenti di Springfield, Illinois, untuk menonton film "The Passion of the Christ" di Odeon Theater. Kemudian dia melahap cokelat Clark besar yang dia beli di kedai, para penyelidik dapat menyelidiki apakah bioskop tersebut berada di Springfield serta apakah bioskop memutar film itu dan menjual merek permen cokelat dengan ukuran tertentu saat itu seperti yang dikatakannya. Jika penemuan mereka bertentangan dengan pernyataan orang tersebut, hal ini menodai keabsahannya. Jika detail-detail tersebut cocok, hal ini tidak semata-mata membuktikan bahwa seluruh ceritanya benar, namun hal ini memperkuat reputasinya karena mengatakan hal-hal yang tepat.

Seperti inilah pencapaian arkeologi. Premis atau dasar pemikirannya adalah jika detail-detailnya tepat masa demi masa, hal ini menambah kepercayaan kita pada bahan-bahan lain yang ditulis sejarawan tetapi belum sempat untuk diperbandingkan (kros-cek).

Jadi saya menanyakan pendapat profesional McRay. "Apakah arkeologi mengukuhkan atau mempertentangkan Perjanjian Baru ketika arkeologi membenarkan detail-detail kisah-kisahnya?"

McRay menjawab dengan cepat. "Oh, tidak dapat diragukan bahwa kredibilitas Perjanjian Baru diperkuat," ujarnya, "sama seperti ketika kredibilitas dokumen kuno manapun diperkuat jika Anda menggali dan melihat bahwa penulisnya akurat berbicara tentang tempat atau peristiwa tertentu."

Sebagai contoh, dia memaparkan pencarian-pencariannya di Caesarea di pesisir Israel, tempat dia dan yang lainnya menggali teluk Herodes Agung.

"Untuk waktu yang lama orang-orang menanyakan validitas pernyataan Josefus, sejarawan abad pertama, bahwa teluk ini sebesar teluk di Piraeus, yang merupakan pelabuhan utama di Atena. Orang-orang mengira Josefus salah, karena ketika Anda melihat bebatuan di atas permukaan air laut di teluk yang sekarang, teluk tersebut tidak terlalu besar.

"Tetapi ketika kami memulai penyelidikan bawah laut, kami melihat bahwa teluk tersebut memanjang di bawah laut, bahwa teluk tersebut telah tertindih, dan dimensi-dimensinya secara keseluruhannya ternyata dapat dibandingkan dengan teluk di Piraeus. Jadi, Josefus ternyata benar. Ini adalah satu lagi bukti bahwa Josefus tahu apa yang dia bicarakan."

Jadi, bagaimana dengan penulis-penulis Perjanjian Baru? Apakah mereka benar-benar tahu apa yang mereka tuliskan? Saya ingin menguji isu ini dalam pertanyaan saya selanjutnya.

Ketepatan Lukas sebagai Sejarawan

Lukas, seorang fisikawan dan sejarawan, menuliskan Injil yang memakai namanya sendiri dan kitab Kisah Para Rasul, yang mana kedua kitab itu merupakan seperempat dari seluruh isi Perjanjian Baru. Injil-injil seperti Lukas dan Matius adalah kitab-kitab yang memberikan detail-detail tentang kisah Yesus.

Lukas dipercaya telah mewawancarai para saksi mata yang mengetahui segala sesuatu tentang kelahiran sampai kematian dan bahkan sampai kebangkitan Yesus. Kenyataannya, mitra sepelayanan Rasul Paulus ini mengatakan dia "menyelidiki segala sesuatu dengan teliti" agar dia dapat "menuliskan kisah-kisah yang berurutan" tentang "kepastian" yang terjadi. Tidak diragukan bahwa dia telah mencatat peristiwa-peristiwa historis yang aktual.

Apakah Kekristenan Menyalin Mitos-Mitos Zaman Dulu?

Para skeptis menyatakan bahwa kekristenan, termasuk kelahiran perawan (Kelahiran Yesus melalui sang perawan Maria, Red), hanyalah sebuah bungkusan ulang dari agama-agama misterius penyembah para dewa. "Tidak benar," ujar ahli apologi, Alex McFarland. Berbeda dengan mitos, "Perjanjian Baru berhubungan dengan orang-orang dan kejadian-kejadian nyata yang terbuka untuk diselidiki," tambahnya.

Peneliti Gretchen Passantino setuju bahwa kelahiran Kristus sangat berbeda dengan kisah-kisah mitos ini. "Contohnya, alih-alih seorang perawan bersedia mengandung dari kekuatan ajaib Allah, mitos-mitos memberikan kita kisah-kisah dari illah-illah yang kuat memaksa bersetubuh dengan wanita," ujarnya. "Alih-alih Inkarnasi, mitos-mitos menceritakan setengah manusia, pahlawan-pahlawan super setengah dewa yang memunyai kelemahan, dosa, dan frustrasi-frustrasi seperti kita."

Albert Schweitzer mengatakan, mereka yang menyatakan kekristenan berasal dari mitos-mitos ini "membuat berbagai macam penggalan atau potongan informasi sejenis agama misterius yang universal yang tidak pernah ada. C. S. Lewis menegaskan bahwa kekristenan berasal dari lingkaran tanpa jejak agama pada umumnya yang pernah ada."

Tetapi saya ingin tahu apakah Lukas mendapatkan hal-hal yang benar. "Ketika para arkeolog memeriksa detail-detail yang dituliskannya," saya lalu berkata, "Apakah kata mereka tentang Lukas. Apakah dia teliti atau ceroboh?" Baik para pelajar liberal maupun konservatif sepakat bahwa sebagai sejarawan, Lukas sangat tepat," Ujar McRay. "Dia terpelajar, dia pandai berbicara dan bahasa Ibraninya mendekati kualitas klasik, dia menulis sebagai seorang yang berpendidikan, dan penemuan-penemuan arkeologis menunjukkan lagi dan lagi bahwa Lukas tepat dalam apa yang patut dia sampaikan."

Nyatanya, dia menambahkan ada beberapa contoh, mirip dengan cerita tentang teluk di atas. Dalam beberapa kisah itu, para pelajar awalnya mengira Lukas salah dalam beberapa acuan, tetapi beberapa penemuan-penemuan lainnya menyatakan bahwa apa yang dituliskannya benar.

Contohnya, dalam Lukas 3:1 dia mengacu pada Lysania yang menjadi Gurbenur Romawi di Abilene sekitar tahun 27 Sesudah Masehi. Selama beberapa tahun, para pelajar menjadikan kisah ini bukti bahwa Lukas tidak tahu apa yang ia bicarakan, karena semua orang tahu bahwa Lysanias bukanlah gurbenur, tetapi dia adalah pemerintah Khalkis setengah abad sebelumnya. Jika Lukas tidak benar dalam fakta dasar, maka apa yang dia tuliskan tidak dapat dipercaya.

Di sinilah arkeologi ikut berperan. "Sebuah tulisan kemudian ditemukan pada zaman Tiberius, dari 14 sampai 37 SM, yang menyebutkan Lysanias sebagai Gurbenur di Ablila dekat Damascus sama seperti yang dituliskan oleh lukas," jelas McRay. "Ternyata ada dua pegawai pemerintah yang bernama Lysanias! Sekali lagi, Lukas dinyatakan tepat sekali."

Contoh lainnya adalah tulisan Lukas di Kisah Para Rasul 17:6 yang menyebutkan "Politarchs," yang diterjemahkan sebagai "pembesar-pembesar kota" oleh Alkitab Terjemahan Baru, di kota Tesalonika. "Untuk waktu yang lama orang-orang mengira Lukas salah, karena tidak ada bukti bahwa istilah "Politarchs" ditemukan di dalam dokumen Roma manapun," ujar McRay.

"Tetapi, sebuah tulisan di bangunan melengkung abad pertama menuliskan frasa, "Pada waktu Politarchs..." Anda dapat pergi ke Museum Inggris dan melihat sendiri. Kemudian, lihatlah dan perhatikanlah, para arkeolog telah menemukan lebih dari 35 tulisan yang menyebutkan Politarchs, beberapa tulisan tersebut ditemukan di Tesalonika dengan periode yang sama seperti yang dituliskan Lukas. Sekali lagi, para kritikus salah dan Lukas terbukti benar."

Seorang ahli arkeologi terkemuka meneliti dengan seksama acuan-acuan Lukas pada tiga puluh dua negara, lima puluh empat kota, dan sembilan pulau, ternyata tidak menemukan kesalahan.

Intinya adalah: "Jika Lukas sangat amat akurat dalam laporan historisnya," ujar salah satu buku yang membahas topik ini, "dengan dasar logika manakah kita berasumsi bahwa dia mudah percaya atau tidak tepat dalam laporannya tentang hal-hal yang jauh lebih penting, bukan hanya untuknya tetapi bagi yang lain juga?"

Hal-hal, seperti kebangkitan Yesus, bukti yang sangat kuat tentang ketuhanan-Nya, seperti yang ditulis Lukas, dicatat dengan "banyak bukti-bukti yang meyakinkan." (t\Uly)

In 2015, I had the idea of a startup company where the readers can decide for themselves the next story. WASN'T THIS A GREAT IDEA? IF can be realized WILL BE WORTH billions USD. Because CAN PRODUCE FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS even tens of millions USD annually. 

In theory, in 10-20 years into the future, my startup income, amounting to hundreds of million USD annually can be obtained easily. AND IF FOLLOWED BY MANY COMPANIES IN THE WHOLE WORLD WILL THEN BE A NEW INDUSTRIAL worth trillions USD. 

To be honest. Currently I'm not having a lot of money. So I start marketing my startup with blogspot.

If you feel curious then you can re-read the story by changing your selection. Then you will see a different story with the story that you have read previously. The question now is why is this so? Because the storyline will be varying according to your choice. 

I, as the author is planning to make tens of thousands of articles with millions of choices in it. With tens of thousands of articles then you like to see a show of your favorite series on TV for several years. The difference is while watching your favorite TV series, then you can not change the story. Meanwhile, if you read this story then you can alter the way the story according to your own choice.

You might say like this. Sounds like a book "choose your own adventure". Books I read when I was young.

Correctly. The idea is taken from there. But if you read through a book, the story is not so exciting. Due to the limited number of pages. When a child first you may already feel interesting. But if you re-read the book now then becomes no fun anymore because you don't get anything with the amount of 100-200 pages.

Bantam Books with the Choose Your Own Adventure 

series has produced more than 250 million US 

dollars. While I offer you more powerful than the Choose 

Your Own Adventure. Because of what? Because the 

story that I made much more interesting than the stories 

created by the authors of Bantam Books. You will not get anything just to 100-200 pages. While the story that I created is made up of tens of thousands of articles with millions of choices in it.

Income from my startup :

1. Ads. With millions of unique visitors, the price of the ads will be expensive.

If I do not get funding from investors then my story would still spread throughout the world. But with a longer time, Slow but sure.

So either I get funding from investors or not, the story that I wrote will remain spread throughout the world. Ha ... 7x
