OKULTISME
Istilah ‘okultisme’ terdiri dari dua kata: ‘occult’ artinya: gaib, gelap, rahasia, misterius, tersembunyi, dan ism artinya aliran atau faham. Jadi okultisme adalah aliran yang percaya pada kekuatan-kekuatan gaib, yang juga disebut sebagai kuasa gelap, rahasia, misterius dan tersembunyi. Secara mendasar sebenarnya okultisme adalah sarana yang digunakan Iblis dalam berbagai bentuk dan cara untuk menjerat manusia dalam kuasanya untuk dibinasakan selama-lamanya. Oleh sebab itu orang yang hidup dalam praktek okultisme adalah orang yang telah dibelenggu sebagai tawanan Iblis.
Secara rohani, praktek okultisme adalah penyembahan berhala yang diartikan sebagai:
Ø TUHAN menyebut umatNya yang menyembah berhala sebagai pelacur rohani. Oleh sebab itu, maka orang Kristen yang terlibat dalam praktek okultisme adalah seorang pelacur yang hidup dalam perzinahan secara rohani (Ul. 31:16 ; Hak.2:17).
Ø TUHAN menyebut umatNya yang menyembah berhala sebagai pelacur rohani. Oleh sebab itu, maka orang Kristen yang terlibat dalam praktek okultisme adalah seorang pelacur yang hidup dalam perzinahan secara rohani (Ul. 31:16 ; Hak.2:17).
Ø Para nabi menyebut berhala sebagai ‘gillulim’ artinya: butir-butir tahi (Yer. 6:4), dan Yeremia juga menyebutnya sebagai kepalsuan. (10:3-5)
Ø Paulus menyebut berhala sebagai omong kosong (1 Kor. 8:4 ; 10:19-20). Cukup banyak bagian firman Tuhan yang berbicara mengenai berhala, tetapi apa yang telah disebut sudah cukup mewakili dan gambaran bahwa okultisme adalah hal yang sia-sia dan yang sangat menjijikkan di hadapan Tuhan. Namun demikian, Iblis selalu menggunakan berhala itu untuk menarik manusia dari ketaatannya kepada Tuhan, sehingga setiap pelaku okultisme akan menjadi buta secara rohani, akal dan hatinya menjadi mati, tertutup terhadap ffirman Tuhan (Yes. 44:18-20). Jadi dalam pengertian yang lebih luas, okultisme adalah segala sesuatu yang digunakan Iblis menarik manusia agar tidak mentaati Tuhan dan hal ini adalah ancaman rohani yang sangat membahayakan hidup umat Tuhan.
KETERLIBATAN DALAM PRAKTEK OKULTISME
Tuhan Yesus mengatakan bahwa Iblis adalah bapa dari segala kejahatan, dan pembohong. (Yoh.8:44). Ungkapan ini menegaskan bahwa Iblis sanggup dan akan menggunakan segala macam tipu kelicikan untuk memperdaya manusia, membujuk, mengikat dan membinasakan manusia. Iblis sangat jenius dan tidak pernah berhenti memanfaatkan segala sesuatu (kondisi dan situasi) untuk menawarkan jasa ‘baik’nya dengan tujuan mengikat dan membinasakan manusia. dengan alasan ini firman Tuhan mengingatkan kita: “sadar dan waspadalah sebab Iblis lawanmu berjalan seperti singa yang mangaum,…. (1 Pet.5:8)
Berdasarkan pelayanan penulis dan didukung oleh riset yang diadakan terhadap beberapa gereja suku di Indonesia dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini menunjukkan, bahwa banyak orang Kristen hidup dalam praktek okultisme, yaitu melalui adat istiadat yang diwarisi secara turun temurun, yang pada dasarnya dilatar belakangi kepercayaan animisme.

2. Untuk memelihara kesatuan komunitasnya (keluarga, rumpun marga dan sukunya). Dengan kata lain, karena tuntutan adat istiadat.
3. Karena ketidaktahuan orang Kristen untuk membedakan apa yang benar dan salah menurut iman dan etika Kristen.
4. Karena ‘fakta’nya mendatangkan pertolongan, seperti sembuh penyakit, banyak rejeki, dll.
5. takut kepada orang yang sudah meninggal

7. dipelajari secara ilmiah
8. digunakan juga oleh para pemimpin agama (gereja).

Dengan demikian, maka banyak orang Kristen menjadi orang Kristen yang sinskritis, yaitu mencampuradukkan iman Kristen dengan kekafiran.
BENTUK-BENTUK OKULTISME
Pada dasarnya praktek okultisme bertujuan untuk memperoleh dua keinginan besar, yaitu: (Pertama). Keinginan untuk memperoleh kuasa. Kuasa untuk mengatasi persoalan hidup seperti penyakit, kemiskinan, kemandulan, mencari jodoh, menuntaskan dendam. Kuasa untuk menghadapi atau melakukan hal-hal yang bersifat gaib, dengan menggunakan jimat-jimat, ilmu kebal, sihir, mantra. (Kedua). Keinginan mengetahui akan masa depan (nasib). Pengetahuan untuk atas segala sesuatu yang dihadapi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, misalnya kehilangan, menafsir mimpi, bunyi burung atau binatang tertentu. Kedua keinginan ini membuat manusia terlibat dalam okultisme yang berasal dari Iblis.

Ø Ilmu Ramal/tenung, yaitu ilmu gelap yang berusaha nasib manusia pada masa yang akan datang. Jenis-jenis ilmu ramal/tenung, antara lain: astrologi (ilmu perbintangan yang dihubungkan dengan nasib manusia). horoscop, garis tangan, kartu, dsb.
Ø Ilmu Rasa, yaitu ilmu kesanggupan tanggapan untuk merasakan dan mengetahui hal-hal yang akan datang.
Ø Ilmu Sihir, yaitu menimbulkan kekuatan gaib, dapat menguasai alam sekitar termasuk menguasai alam pikiran manusia. Ada ilmu sihir hitam, putih, hipnotis, magic protektif, dll.
Ø Jimat-Jimat, bisa dalam bentuk benda-benda ataupun dalam bentuk mantra. Ada yang menempel di badan, dan ada yang ditelan.

Setiap perkataannya adalah kelicikan dan kebohongan, yang ditujukan untuk memperdaya dan menakut-nakuti manusia, supaya manusia memberontak terhadap Tuhan dan mengikutinya. Oleh sebab itu, setiap orang yang terlibat dalam okultisme adalah orang yang sedang melayani Iblis dan memberontak kepada Tuhan.
Ke dua, Melalui Mediator. Mediaotor adalah oknum yang dipakai Iblis untuk menarik manusia ke dalam kuasanya. Manusia mengenal mediator dengan berbagai macam nama dan gelar. Di bawah ini dipaparkan ayat firman Tuhan yang berbicara mengenai mediator dan prakteknya, yang melibatkan manusia dalam praktek okultisme. mediator seperti : ular, dukun, nabi palsu, pemimpi, peramal,

Berdasarkan kepercayaan itu mereka membangun falsafah hidup dan menjalaninya yang diatur dalam norma-norma adat istiadat.Oleh sebab itu, adat bagi masyarakat suku bukanlah hanya sekedar tata tertib hidup dalam bermasyarakat, tetapi juga mempunyai nilai-nilai religius, yang dianggap mendatangkan berkat jika ditaati, dan dikutuk jika dilanggar.

Dalam masyarakat suku, tolok ukur yang paling utama untuk menentukan kriteria seorang dalam masyarakat adalah ketaatannya terhadap adat. Oelh sebab itulah maka orang yang taat kepada adat akan diterima dan dihargai (dituakan) dalam masyarakat sukunya.
Ketika Injil masuk suku-suku, pengaruh adat tidak sekaligus hilang dari kehidupan orang Kristen. Adat tetap dipelihara sebagai tata tertib yang yang mengatur relasi dengan lingkungan dan bermasyarakat, sedangkan agama Kristen dianggaap sebagai jaminan di akhirad nanti. Anggapan ini membuat banyak orang Kristen memisahkan nilai-nilai keKristenan dari kehidupan nyata, sehingga hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan hidup masa kini, adatlah yang harus di taati, bukan Injil.
Pada umumnya semua praktek okultisme yang masih dipelihara sampai sekarang, didasarkan pada keyakinan bahwa orang mati dapat menghubungi orang hidup, atau minimal masih dapat mempengaruhi jalan hidup orang yang masih hidup.
Praktek okultisme terlihat kental di sini, yaitu:
1. Menghadapi orang mati. Ada yang menaruh garam di dalam peti jenazah, menusuk ibu jari kaki atau mengikat kedua jari dengan tali, ketika peti jenazah diangkat disuruh lewat dari bawahnya. Berbicara (mengaku dosa) pada orang mati, ada juga yang membuat rumah-rumahan dari kertas. Hari kematian seseorang diperingati pada hari ke 3, 7, 10, 100,1000.
1. Menghadapi orang mati. Ada yang menaruh garam di dalam peti jenazah, menusuk ibu jari kaki atau mengikat kedua jari dengan tali, ketika peti jenazah diangkat disuruh lewat dari bawahnya. 3. Memanggil roh leluhur dengan membunyikan musik dan tarian tertentu, menyediakan makanan yang disukai orang mati, pada waktu masih hidup
4. Memelihara benda-benda sakti seperti: keris, guci, tongkat, kerangka binatang, dll
5. Ketika seorang ibu sedang mengandung, maka pada usia tertentu diadakan upacara selamatan, seperti mandi air kembang, memberi ulos,. Selama kehamilan banyak pantangan: tidak boleh memotong rambut ayah si jabang bayi, tidak boleh memukul apa saja yang bernyawa, jika keluar rumah harus membawa gunting, atau paku, atau bawang, dll.
6. Melahirkan anak disambut dengan cara kafir, mulai dari menanam ari-ari, menyimpan tali pusat yang sudah lepas, waktu bayi dibawa bepergian. Turun tanah, potong rambut tikam telinga, dll.
7. Mencari jodoh dengan menggunakan jimat pemanis atau mantra, kecocokan nama, atau bintang (sio)
8. Upacara pernikahan diwarnai konsep kekafiran. Hari ‘H’ ditentukan menurut hari baik. Suku jawa menggunakan primbon, batak Kristen menggunakan almanac gereja, ada yanbg menggunakan kecocokan nama hari dan tanggal tertentu, cara melangkah, injak telor, dll.
9. Persoalan rumah tangga sering dihubungkan dengan leluhur, sehingga masalah keturunan, pekerjaan, ekonomi, dan semua persoalan hidup selalu dihubungkan dengan orang yang sudah mati.
10. Ketika membangun rumah, letaknya dibuat berdasarkan petunjuk dukun, menanam telor dan kepala babi di setiap sudut rumah, menanam pohon tertentu di pekarangan rumah.. setelah selesai pembangunan rumah, ada Sesutu yang ditaruh sebagai penjaga atau penangkal hal-hal yang membahayakan.
11. Suku Minahasa, anggota keluarga dengan kerabat wajib ke pasar melalui jalan yang sering dilawati orang yang sudah meninggal.
12. Tionghoa, cermin yang sering dipakai orang mati ditandai silang tujuan arwah mengetahui sudah meninggal.
Tentu masih banyak hal lain dalam praktek okultisme yang dilakukan orang Kristen yang belum tercatat di sini. Apapun bentuknya, semuanya itu perbuatan melauani Iblis, dan merupakan kekejian di hadapan Tuhan.

AKIBAT PRAKTEK OKULTISME
Dosa membuat manusia berada di bawah penghukuman Tuhan, baik selama ia ada di dunia ini maupun setelah ia mati. Alkitab menunjukkan penghukuman Tuhan atas mereka yang terlibat dalam dosa praktek okultisme, yaitu:
1. Manusia di bawah murka Allah dari generasi ke generasi, yang disebut sebagai keturunan ke tiga dan ke empat. (Kel. 20:5)
2. Berada di bawah penghukuman Tuhan (Yes.47:13)
3. Diceraiberaikan oleh Allah dan diserahkan kepada penjarahan (Yer. 27:15)
4. Mengalami kematian yang tidak wajar (Ul.13:1-5)
5. Dimusnahkan oleh Tuhan (Yes. 65:4-8)
6. Dibuang dari tanah/negerinya (2 Raj. 18:11-12)
7. Dikendalikan keinginan untuk bunuh diri (Mat.27:3-4 ; 1 Taw.10:1-4)
8. Hidup gelisah dan dikejar-kejar perasaan takut (Kej. 3:8)
9. Gairah sex yang tidak wajar (Roma. 1:22-27)
10. Dikuasai oleh pikiran-pikiran yang terkutuk (Roma 1:28)
11. Tertutup terhadap firman Tuhan (Yer. 36:23-24)
12. Mengalami stress, depressi, gila, menghujat (Ul. 28:28; Mark. 5:15)
13. Kemandulan (Kel. 23:24-26), lahir tidak normal (cacat)
14. Ditimpa berbagai macam kutuk, mulai dari sumber penghasilan, pekerjaan, kesehatan, hubungan keluarga (Ul. 28:1-46)
15. Doanya tidak dijawab Tuhan (Yes. 59:1-3)
16. Tidak mewarisi Kerajaan Allah (Gal. 5:19-21)
17. Mengalami penderitaan kekal di neraka (Mat.25:41 ; Wah.20:10 ; 21:8)
