Mantan walikota yang jadi investor kami

Di tahun 2014, kami mengalami masalah yang berat. Pertumbuhan cepat Studentpreneur sudah tidak bisa ditangani oleh tim founder sendirian, kami sudah harus mengambil karyawan full-time. Sedangkan saat itu, penghasilan Studentpreneur masih kurang untuk mendukung pertumbuhan. Meskipun pinjaman dari Bank Jatim bisa mengamankan beberapa bulan hidup kami, jelas sekali langkah yang harus Studentpreneur lakukan: mendapatkan funding.

Bak gayung bersambut, di sebuah acara Studentpreneur hangout, kami bertemu dengan pebisnis berusia 25 tahun yang menguasai perdagangan bahan bangunan di Jawa Timur, Erik Subiantoro. Dia bercerita sudah lama sekali punya cita-cita membangun ekosistem bisnis untuk anak muda, persis dengan misi Studentpreneur. Dia percaya apabila diberi kesempatan, anak muda juga bisa sukses, sama seperti dirinya dulu. Maklum, Erik bukan anak orang kaya, hanya anak seorang pegawai administrasi toko bangunan. Dia berjuang sendiri demi nasibnya. Dan dia melihat Studentpreneur akan bisa membantu lebih banyak “bukan anak orang kaya” untuk berusaha mengubah nasib.

Karena misi yang sama ini, kami langsung menerima tawarannya untuk berinvestasi, dengan valuasi yang sebenarnya masih di bawah harapan kami. Meskipun berstatus investor, Erik masih sangat muda, sehingga kami merasa masih butuh satu orang lagi untuk “adult supervision”. Tim Studentpreneur langsung berkunjung ke kantor mantan walikota yang setelah pensiun menjadi pebisnis, untuk meminta kesediaan beliau menjadi penasehat. Ternyata beliau sudah memantau Studentpreneur sejak lama. Beliau tidak mau hanya menjadi penasehat, tapi ingin menjadi investor aktif, dan justru ingin berinvestasi dalam jumlah besar. Tapi kami berhasil meyakinkan dia untuk berinvestasi kecil dulu, dan menjadi penasehat kami di jajaran board.

MY STARTUP :

Try to imagine this. When you're reading a story on the web or blog, you are given two choices. You can choose the next story based on your own choice. After selecting then you can continue reading the story. Shortly afterwards you will be presented back to the 2 other options. The next choice is up to you. Then you continue the story you are reading. After that you will be faced again with 2 choices. So onwards.

Based on the above, then you are faced with two choices. Are you interested in reading my story is? Or you are not interested at all. The choice is in your hands.
