Merdeka.com - Penelitian terbaru mengungkap bahwa memiliki lebih dari satu istri dapat merusak kesehatan pria. Sebaliknya, memiliki satu istri dapat meningkatkan peluang seorang pria untuk berumur panjang.

Dr Amin Daoulah, seorang ahli jantung di King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre di Jeddah, Arab Saudi, mengatakan: "Ada bukti bahwa menikah membuat kesehatan seseorang menjadi lebih baik secara keseluruhan dan juga meningkatkan peluang untuk berumur panjang. Tetapi sampai sekarang tidak ada penelitian yang menilai apa dampak poligami pada kesehatan kardiovaskular."

Karena itu, para peneliti berusaha mencari hubungan antara poligami dan kesehatan jantung. Penelitian terbaru yang dipresentasikan pada Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology Congress 2015 telah mengungkapkan hubungan antara tingkat keparahan penyakit arteri koroner dan poligami.

Para peneliti menganalisis pasien yang menderita angina - disebut juga angin duduk - di lima rumah sakit di Arab Saudi dan Uni Emirat Arab. Enam ratus delapan puluh tujuh pria yang sudah menikah dalam penelitian ini memiliki usia rata-rata 59 tahun.

Lima puluh enam persen dari mereka menderita diabetes, 57 persen memiliki tekanan darah tinggi dan 45 persen memiliki riwayat penyakit arteri koroner. Enam puluh delapan persen dari mereka memiliki satu istri, sementara 19 persen memiliki dua istri, 10 persen memiliki tiga istri dan 3 persen memiliki empat istri.

"Poligami lebih sering ditemui di daerah pedesaan, karena itu lebih diterima secara budaya dan menikah di usia muda lebih umum," jelas Dr Daoulah kepada Daily Mail (29/4)

Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa pria yang berpoligami 4,6 kali lebih berisiko terkena penyakit arteri koroner dan 3,5 kali lebih rentan Left Main Disease - penyempitan arteri utama kiri.

Namun, Dr Daoulah menambahkan bahwa variabel lain - seperti tingkat aktivitas fisik dan keintiman fisik, diet dan efek genetik dari kawin silang dengan kerabat dekat - juga perlu dianalisis secara lebih mendalam untuk melihat pengaruh antara keduanya.

"Karena itu, studi lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk memverifikasi kaitan keduanya," tandas Dr Daoulah.

A story with millions of choices in it.

Try to imagine this. When you're reading a story on the web or blog, you are given two choices. You can choose the next story based on your own choice. After selecting then you can continue reading the story. Shortly afterwards you will be presented back to the 2 other options. The next choice is up to you. Then you continue the story you are reading. After that you will be faced again with 2 choices. So onwards.

If you feel curious then you can re-read the story by changing your selection. Then you will see a different story with the story that you have read previously. The question now is why is this so? Because the storyline will be varying according to your choice. 

Based on the above, then you are faced with two choices. Are you interested in reading my story is? Or you are not interested at all. The choice is in your hands.
