Merdeka.com - Bayangkan ada seorang jenderal polisi yang merangkap jabatan sebagai menteri. Tentu kaya raya dan bisa hidup mewah dengan fasilitas negara.

Namun hal itu tak berlaku untuk Hoegeng Imam Santoso. Tahun 1966, Hoegeng berpangkat Inspektur Jenderal sekaligus menjabat Menteri Sekretaris Presidium Kabinet. Posisi yang lumayan jika ingin menumpuk kekayaan pribadi.

Namun sejak menjadi perwira pertama, Hoegeng dikenal lurus. Tak satu sen pun dia mau makan uang haram. Semua fasilitas negara yang dirasa tak perlu juga dikembalikan.

Karena itulah Hoegeng hidup pas-pasan. Bahkan rupanya Hoegeng sampai terpaksa menjual sepatu miliknya di pasar loak. Hal ini diceritakan mantan sekretaris Hoegeng, Soedharto Martopoespito dalam buku Hoegeng Polisi dan Menteri Teladan yang ditulis Suhartono dan diterbitkan Penerbit Buku Kompas tahun 2013.

Ceritanya saat itu Dharto melihat Aco, sopir Hoegeng, sedang sedih. Rupanya Aco sedih dan bingung karena belum berhasil melaksanakan permintaan Hoegeng. Pak jenderal ini menyuruh Aco menjual sepasang sepatu miliknya di pasar loak. Namun tak laku, karena sepatu Hoegeng ini ukurannya besar. Sudah begitu, mereknya pun tidak terkenal.

Dharto pun tergerak untuk membantu Aco. Dia coba mengontak seorang perwira polisi, AKBP Totok Soesilo. Totok ini polisi yang diperbantukan sebagai sekretaris menteri. Selain itu, dia juga lumayan berada karena punya usaha penggilingan ulang karet di Medan. Totok pernah berkata pada Dharto, jika ada kesulitan coba datang saja, siapa tahu dia bisa bantu.

"Karena ingin membantu, Totok membeli sepatu Hoegeng dengan harga seperti sepatu baru merek terkenal, Rp 1.200. Nilai itu hampir sama dengan gaji saya selama sebulan," kenang Dharto.

Totok mewanti-wanti supaya Dharto tak bilang pada Hoegeng kalau dia yang membeli sepatu itu. Totok mengaku cuma ingin membantu Dharto dan jenderal Hoegeng yang merupakan seniornya di kepolisian.

Dharto lalu memberikan uang itu pada Aco. Dia berpesan kalau Hoegeng tanya, bilang saja ada yang beli sepatu itu, tapi yang jelas bukan Dharto, melainkan orang lain.

Keesokan harinya, Hoegeng tiba di kantor dan langsung memeluk Dharto. "Terima kasih ya Mas Dharto, terima kasih," kata Hoegeng sumringah.

Sampai akhir hayatnya Hoegeng tak pernah tahu siapa yang membeli sepatu itu. Dharto sendiri baru menceritakan kisah ini pada keluarga Hoegeng tahun 2013. Dia menyimpan kisah mengharukan ini puluhan tahun lamanya.

Kejujuran Hoegeng banyak ditiru anak buah. Banyak polisi di era Hoegeng yang mengikuti teladan pimpinan mereka. Seperti Jenderal Ursinus yang sampai pinjam uang mertua karena gajinya tak cukup membiayai dapur ngebul sebulan. Padahal Ursinus adalah kepala korps lalu lintas dan mantan Kapolda Sumatera Utara.

Ada juga seorang Kombes yang tetap bangga menggunakan mobil kijang kotak yang sudah butut. Saat ditanya kenapa tak ganti mobil, polisi itu menjawab.

"Malu sama Pak Hoegeng, jenderal saja nggak punya mobil, sudah untung saya Kombes bisa beli mobil walau cuma mobil butut, yang penting halal."

Try to imagine this. When you're reading a story on the web or blog, you are given two choices. You can choose the next story based on your own choice. After selecting then you can continue reading the story. Shortly afterwards you will be presented back to the 2 other options. The next choice is up to you. Then you continue the story you are reading. After that you will be faced again with 2 choices. So onwards.

If you feel curious then you can re-read the story by changing your selection. Then you will see a different story with the story that you have read previously. The question now is why is this so? Because the storyline will be varying according to your choice. 

Based on the above, then you are faced with two choices. Are you interested in reading my story is? Or you are not interested at all. The choice is in your hands.
