TRIBUNLAMPUNG.CO.ID - Alzheimer merupakan penyakit yang menyebabkan penurunan daya ingat dan kemampuan mental. Hingga saat ini belum ditemukan obat untuk menyembuhkan Alzheimer. Obat hanya membantu memperlambat Alzheimer menjadi lebih parah.

Sayangnya, penyakit yang umumnya diderita lansia ini sering kali tidak terdeteksi sejak dini. Padahal, jika cepat terdeteksi, dapat memperlambat kerusakan otak.

Direktur Bina Kesehatan Jiwa Kementerian Kesehatan Eka Viora mengatakan, beberapa puskesmas sebenarnya bisa melakukan deteksi dini Alzheimer.

"Puskesmas mampu melakukan deteksi dini. Itu mudah, pakai kuisioner saja. Bisa diketahui, ini bukan sekedar lupa biasa," kata Eka dalam diskusi di Jakarta, Selasa (7/4/2015).

Eka mengatakan, seluruh puskesmas diberikan kompetensi untuk mendiagnosis 155 penyakit, termasuk Alzheimer.

Namun, Alzheimer sendiri memang belum banyak diketahui. Banyak orang yang menganggap pikun adalah suatu hal yang lumrah terjadi pada lansia. Padahal, pikun dapat menjadi tanda awal Alzheimer. Lebih lanjut, Eka mengatakan bahwa puskesmas pun seharusnya ramah lansia.

"Puskesmas yang ramah lansia itu misalnya lansia kalau datang berobat tidak boleh di lantai dua, toilet khusus lansia harus ada. Jadi tidak tidak hanya pada pelayanan penyakitnya, tapi pada sarana dan psarana, fasilitasnya," terang Eka.

Eka menjelaskan, saat ini baru ada 528 puskesmas "Santun Lansia" yang tersebar di 231 Kabupaten/Kota di Indonesia dari total sekitar 9000 puskesmas. "Paling banyak ada di Yogyakarta. Kita ingin ini diperbanyak," katanya.
